Diary - km 0
I’m off for a walk again.
Here’s a summary of my very random first 2.5 weeks in New Zealand.
- Took me around 32 hours to get to Auckland. Not fun. Auckland is pretty green though, and people say “hi” and “thank you” to bus drivers. I’ve always liked that about countries that do.
- spent 11 days serving a vipassana course with some great folk, washing dishes and prepping buckets of yoghurt ocassionally changed by hours of meditation in an incredibly green jungle (which is probably technically not a jungle, but maaaan the fern there is a size of a dinosaur!) Saw a possum! Very cute.
- Went North. Was hosted by a nice couple of Trail Angels mid-way. John works as a school bus driver. The school had a Christmas event and he was appointed to be Santa, so I joined Santa and his wife on a present delivery mission, where he was driven to the school in a firetruck to a bunch of happy kids.
- And this is a picture of me at Cape Reinga, the northernmost point of New Zealand. From here I walk South. All the way South. With some luck, I’ll reach Bluff.
