My Te Araroa Gear

After carrying way too much on the PCT, I decided to pay more attention to weight on my next thru-hike.

To be fair, carrying too much on your first thru-hiking is completely normal. How else will you find out what you’ll actually use and what is just dead weight? I love my fairy lights, but to others they’d be extra grams not worth carrying. If you ask me - absolutely worth it!

So here it goes, my TA gear list: https://lighterpack.com/r/w57ll7

Managed to bring the base weight (that does not include food and water) down to 6.7kg.

Honestly, if I had to do it all over again, I’d buy Durston Kakwa 55 instead, since Kakwa 40 in size S has a pretty small roll top (compared to even Kakwa 40 of size M or L), and a longer food carry just barely fit. I would not manage a longer than 7 day food carry with this bag.
