Diary - Mile 2394

I’m fine (picture that dog with fire around).

- Your hike is over- says some not so sober hiker at a gas station. What? We’re confused.

- You don’t know about the fire at Stevens Pass?- …no, we didn’t.

Sooooo. When we already found an alternative way to get to Canada border avoiding the fire at the terminus (kayaking a lake), a fire started in a place I was supposed to be in three days. So now I’m drinking flights of beer looking at all possible trails going through Washington, ending at the Canadian border. We said we’ll ski to the terminus if it snows, we’ll kayak to the border if the ground is on fire, so I’M GOING TO GET TO THE BORDER. Even if I have to make a giant detour on random trails. They will have to close all of them to get me to give up.

Us strategizing how to reach Canada border.

Strategising how to reach Canada border while the forest around terminus is on fire.
